officially serve again as Treasurer (of course with option for her to
take any other role that she wants.)

Item 008: Define Verbal Class "Vocabulary".
Description/Notes: Organize it on-line the way that the Math classes are organized.
Assigned to/ Status: Paul is working on this as of 2005-03 / no progress
Item 009: Evaluate classroom web database tools "moodle.org", "logicampus.com", and "mygradebook.com"
Description/Notes:
Paul has already evaluated MyGradebook, and found it to be very good,
but doesn't quite meet our needs (mostly because it doesn't permit an
evaluation of "PreTest" vs "PostTest"). Analysis of Moodle and
Logicampus will result in either BCLS selecting one of those as our
"online database," or will help give us more ideas (such as thos
learned by Paul from MyGradebook) for the development of our own online
database.
Assigned to/ Status:
The more people who participate in this evaluation, the better. Paul is
spearheading this, but has made no progress in several months, as of
2005-03.
Item 010:
Find laser printer/scanner(create .pdf) combination that can fit in a
locker,
to replace our outdated and slow printer and copy machine. Might have
to compromise for .pdf scanner for storage at Paul's house (if one
cannot fit in locker).
Description/Notes:.
Assigned to/ Status:
Item 011: Group Math Problems from our "old" SAT Math Test library into Math the Easy Way Chapters.
Description/Notes: Our SAT Math Test libray now contains only "old"
SATs. The MtEW book covers most of the topics covered by those tests.
Thus we can label *most* (but not all) of those problems with as "Ch1",
"Ch2", etc. We will must retire these old SAT tests (replace with "new" SAT tests), but we can still
use the old SAT tests as source of SAT math problems for their corresponding
MtEW Chapters. The "New" SAT math tests will consist of the "old"
problems, plus problems that cover topics outside of MtEW. Yes, this
will probably mean a new Math class devoted to the "new" math topics,
or rather a new Basic Math Chapter (or a few new "Chapters") that lie
outside of the MtEW book.
Assigned to/ Status: Jerry has taken this as of 2005-03. No concrete feedback yet. Testing in his class 2005 Spring semester.
Item 012:
Analyze new Princeton Review and/or similar books to identify the New
Math Topics covered by the SAT, and source material for covering those
topics.
Description/Notes:
The new source material for these new topics will act as new Basic Math
"chapters" that students must master prior to enrolling in a class
devoted to SAT Math problems. Paul has new books for various staff to review. Extra copies need purchasing by Shiela (?).
Assigned to/ Status:
Item 013: Retrieve SAT Verbal books from Patrice for re-evauation now that that new books have become available.
Description/Notes: This
could involve contacting Patrice and driving by her house to pickup the
books. Paul has already talked to her about this. She lives near
Orchard Lake and 15 Mile Road. Paul can call again and remind her to
leave with kids on a Saturday afternoon, or on door step.
Assigned to/ Status: Barbara? She lives somewhat hear Patrice.
Item 014:
Update Verbal Class descriptions so that Students and Parents can work
on these topics even when BCLS does not offer the classes.
Description/Notes:
Description should include such information as which book to use and
what tests to take. Example, for the Grammar Class: Read entire
"Grammar Smart" book, perform all exercizes in it; read Princeton
Review chapters on the Grammar section; Take Grammar sections included
in the New Ten Real SATs book. Do the same for Vocabulary/ Sentance
Completions. Unsure what to do for Reading Comp. Idea for Writing
Class: Instruct students to complete all the other Verbal Classes, plus
read Princeton Review chapters on the Writing Section, then do
the Writing sections in the New Ten Real SATs book.
Assigned to/ Status: Paul. No progress as of 2005-03
Item 015: Define schedule for 2005 Fall semester.
Description/Notes:
Remember our new template; 2 Registrations, 1 pre-semester
consultation, 7 regular sessions, Final, then 1 post-semester Session,
with the stipulation that the 7 regular sessions and Final exam occur
without interruption. Also; Summer semester occur only on two weekday
evenings per week (Tu,W; or Tu, Th, or W,Th). Probably we should
account for SAT & ACT test dates, but this in addition to vacation
dates might be too much!
Assigned to/ Status: Barbara?
Item 016: Vocab tests for every chapter 16 - 28 "Hot Words" book
Description/Notes: For chapters with many words with identical meaning,
test can be; list the 7 words from Ch19 that means, 'zest for life.' Need multiple tests.
Assigned to/ Status:
Item 017: For Vocab Chapters 16-28, write notes that lead discussion of the words.
Description/Notes:
Notes can include such things as spreadsheet that lists multiple
meanings, or that sub-divides words of similar meaning with similar
specific meaning. The idea here is not only to maximize the liklihood
that students will learn these words, but that they will learn how to
learn words on their own in the future. Include excercizes, such as
acting out word definitions "improv style" to associate apparent
meaning with actual meaning.
Assigned to/ Status:
Item 018: Remove address and email from website crest
Description/Notes: This info belongs as easily modifiable text on Contact Us page
Assigned to/ Status:
Boris?
Item 019: Write solutions to first 10 (easy) probs of all posted math SATs
Description/Notes: Write neatly on notebook paper, box answers, etc. Give to Paul; he'll make pdf files and post
Assigned to/ Status: Jerry took this 2005.03.12 Sat
Item 020: Edit Contact Us page to include current address (Sheila?) & contact@email
Description/Notes: contact@ eamil address should not enable spammers.
Assigned to/ Status: Paul added Sheila's address, and temporary text
for contact@. Need to change this to either a pop-up email, or input
email, so that spammers don't "see" the email address. "contact@"
points to Paul's email address.
Item 021: Device that enables hand-writing, pencil-like input to .pdf document.
Description/Notes: Lets
us document and ***modify**!!** realisitic solutions. Currently, we
hand-write solutions on paper, then Paul scans them at his job's PDF
scanner. Impossible to modify, and ineffficient. Microsoft "tablet"?
Assigned to/ Status: Paul. Recommends purchasing one or two of these:
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B0000C4DWQ/ref=pd_cps_e_2/103-7323764-2746200?v=glance&s=electronics
Item 022: Phone in Command Post room.
Description/Notes: Publishing
staff numbers on-line results in bothersome calls. However, we need a
way for parents to call during sessions. Do the classrooms have phone
lines? Can/will LTU activate one for us?
Assigned to/ Status:
Item 023: Service for having SAT company grade essays from new SAT book.
Description/Notes:
How to submit essay? Scan and email/input to website? Cost? Turn-around
time? What is the feedback? Does new ETS book present this info? ETS
website?
Assigned to/ Status: Patrice?
Item 024: Solutions to 3 x 8 = 24 new Math sections (from new book by ETS), and identification of "new" concepts not covered by "old" SAT.
Description/Notes: Just
like we did for "old" SAT math sections. Identify where to incorporate
"new" concepts. Create new chapter for Basic Math class? And/or new
Assessment test chapter?
Assigned to/ Status: Paul. Completed thee so far. Have not seen "new" concepts (!).
Item 025: Examine "new" Math SAT books. Should we replace Math the Easy way? But keep assessment tests?
Description/Notes:
Assigned to/ Status: Paul?
Item 026: Examine "new" writing / grammer SAT books.
Description/Notes: Do
any provide basis for Writing class? What book to use for Grammer
class? Remember to include consideration of Princeton Review's Grammar
Smart, which Paul successfully employed in combination with ETS
Grammmer mult-choice tests (one as assessment, one as final). Remember
that SAT "writing" officially includes both writing and grammer. BCLS
should seperate essay-writing from grammer mult-choice (right?).
Assigned to/ Status: Kevin, Paul, Patrice, Nadir
